Always rushing. Rushing to work. Rushing to meet your friends. Rushing to get things done. This is not the city where people sit back and relax. It's New York City. NYC. The Big Apple. The city that never sleeps. They say if you can make it here, you can make it anywhere. Maybe that's why people are in such a rush. They want to make their dreams come true. They want to accomplish what they were told couldn't be done. Perhaps rushing is a sign of eagerness and determination. We all want our wildest dreams to come true but are we in a hurry to do so?
Sometimes we need to be told to slow down. Rushing isn't always a good thing. Rushing can lead to mistakes. Rushing means carelessness. As New Yorkers, we don't like to be told to take it slow because it isn't in our DNA. We have been modified to believe we need to get to our destination right now. Our ETA is always too long. The MTA moves at a glacial pace so the ETA is in fact too long. However, we rarely take a moment to breathe. It's kind of hard to rush and breathe at the same time.
It's okay to slow down; to take a break. It's okay to take personal days. It's okay to have time to yourself. That's why vacations exist, right?
