After a year of mulling it over, I've finally decided to post this audio I produced on Asian American representation in media. As part of a Brooklyn College course assignment, the topic of Asian American representation in media was addressed.
Asian American representation in film and television is a problem that leads to unrealistic portrayals of characters and the continuation of stereotypes. Many Asian American stereotypes originated from anti-Asian sentiments that arose from fears of immigration in the nineteenth and early twentieth century. That was the beginning of many other Asian American stereotypes that were to be developed later on. From early years of silent film to present day, extreme images of Asian and Asian American individuals have been presented in the media.
